- your employment must have been for at least one continuous year of full-time, paid work experience or the equivalent in part-time continuous employment.
- Your work experience must be Skill Type 0 (managerial occupations) or Skill Level A (professional occupations) or B (technical occupations and skilled trades) on the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC).
- the experience must have been gained within the last 10 years.
When assessing your application for permanent residency as a skilled worker a number of criteria will be used to ascertain your suitability. Firstly, already having a job and sufficient funds to settle in Canada would be looked on as very favourable. In addition, you will need to be able to communicate to carry out your job and the ability to understand and speak English or French is required. Other factors the immigration department takes into account are your age, experience and how you would cope with settling in Canada.
